Curry Type: MILD
Seekh Kebabs are flavourful skewers of minced meat, usually seasoned with seekh kebab spices and herbs. Using a pre-made spice mix from Nosh Spice makes the preparation process quicker and more convenient.
Ingredients
For the Kebabs:
- 1 pound (450g) ground lamb or beef
- 1 tablespoon ready-to-use Nosh Spice Seekh Kebab Mix
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro or basil
- Salt to taste
- 1 egg (optional, for binding)
- Vegetable oil or olive oil (for grilling or cooking)
Cooking Method
Step 1: Prepare the Meat Mixture
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, Nosh Spice Seekh Kebab Spice Mix, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, cilantro, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
- If using an egg for binding, beat it separately and add it to the meat mixture. This will help the kebabs hold their shape.
- Cover the bowl and let the mixture rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the flavours to meld.
Step 2: Shape the Kebabs
- Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent them from burning during grilling.
- Take a portion of the meat mixture and mold it onto the skewer, shaping it into a long, cylindrical kebab. Repeat with the remaining mixture and skewers.
- Brush the kebabs with a little vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
Step 3: Grill or Bake the Kebabs
- Grill the kebabs for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Alternatively, you can cook them in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes, turning once halfway through.
- The kebabs are done when they are cooked through and have a golden-brown colour on the outside.
Step 4: Serve
- Serve the seekh kebabs hot with naan, rice, or flatbread of your choice.
- You can also pair them with mint chutney or yogurt sauce for dipping.
