Curry Type: MILD

Seekh Kebabs are flavourful skewers of minced meat, usually seasoned with seekh kebab spices and herbs. Using a pre-made spice mix from Nosh Spice makes the preparation process quicker and more convenient.

Ingredients

For the Kebabs:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground lamb or beef
  • 1 tablespoon ready-to-use Nosh Spice Seekh Kebab Mix
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro or basil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 egg (optional, for binding)
  • Vegetable oil or olive oil (for grilling or cooking)

Cooking Method

Step 1: Prepare the Meat Mixture

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, Nosh Spice Seekh Kebab Spice Mix, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, cilantro, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  2. If using an egg for binding, beat it separately and add it to the meat mixture. This will help the kebabs hold their shape.
  3. Cover the bowl and let the mixture rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the flavours to meld.

Step 2: Shape the Kebabs

  1. Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
  2. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent them from burning during grilling.
  3. Take a portion of the meat mixture and mold it onto the skewer, shaping it into a long, cylindrical kebab. Repeat with the remaining mixture and skewers.
  4. Brush the kebabs with a little vegetable oil to prevent sticking.

Step 3: Grill or Bake the Kebabs

  1. Grill the kebabs for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  2. Alternatively, you can cook them in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes, turning once halfway through.
  3. The kebabs are done when they are cooked through and have a golden-brown colour on the outside.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Serve the seekh kebabs hot with naan, rice, or flatbread of your choice.
  2. You can also pair them with mint chutney or yogurt sauce for dipping.
