South Indian curry is renowned for its aromatic spices and bold flavours. Using the pre-made Nosh Spice South Curry Mix makes cooking this flavourful dish quicker and more convenient.

Ingredients

For the Curry:

  • 1 pound (450g) Mutton or Beef, cubed
  • 2 teaspoons Nosh Spice South Curry Spice Mix
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Curry leaves (optional)
  • ½ cup coconut milk or cream (optional, for creaminess)
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Method

Step 1: Prepare the Base

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  3. Stir in the ginger paste and garlic paste. Cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 2: Add the Spices and Meat

  1. Add 2 teaspoons of Nosh Spice South Curry Mix to the pan and sauté for about 1 minute to release the flavours.
  2. Add the cubed mutton or beef to the pan and cook until browned on all sides.

Step 3: Cook the Curry

  1. Continue cooking for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oil starts to separate from the masala. Add salt to taste and mix well.
  2. Lower the heat to a simmer, cover the pan, and cook for about 30-40 minutes, or until the meat becomes tender.

Step 4: Adjust Consistency and Finish

  1. Add water if needed to maintain the desired consistency.
  2. If using coconut milk for added creaminess, pour it in and stir to combine.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Step 5: Serve

  1. Serve the curry hot with steamed rice or Indian bread like naan or roti.
  2. Enjoy your flavourful and hot South Curry!
