Chicken Tikka Masala is a creamy and fragrant curry dish made with tender marinated chicken cooked in a thick tomato-based sauce with spices. Using the pre-made Nosh Spice Mix makes preparation easier, letting you enjoy this popular meal with less work and more taste.
Ingredients
For the Marinade:
- 1 pound (450g) boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons Nosh Spice Tikka Masala Mix
- ½ cup plain yogurt
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Skewers (wooden or metal)
For the Sauce:
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons tomato puree (or 2 fresh tomatoes)
- ½ tablespoon ready-to-use Nosh Spice Tikka Masala Mix
- ½ cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- Chopped cilantro for garnish
Cooking Method
Step 1: Marinade the Chicken
- In a bowl, mix the yogurt, Nosh Spice Tikka Masala Mix, ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight is ideal for better results).
Step 2: Prepare the Chicken
- Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers.
- Grill the chicken skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred. Alternatively, cook them in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, turning once halfway.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skewers and set aside.
Step 3: Prepare the Masala Sauce
- In a pan, heat the butter or oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.
- Stir in the ginger paste and garlic paste, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the tomato puree and Nosh Spice Tikka Masala Mix. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oil starts to separate from the sauce.
Step 4: Finish the Sauce
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Let the sauce simmer gently for 5 minutes.
- Add the grilled chicken pieces to the masala sauce. Simmer for 5-10 minutes to let the flavours meld.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
Step 5: Serve
- Taste and adjust salt as needed.
- Serve Chicken Tikka Masala with steamed rice, naan, or Indian bread of your choice.
- Enjoy your flavourful and creamy Chicken Tikka Masala!
