Chicken Tikka Masala is a creamy and fragrant curry dish made with tender marinated chicken cooked in a thick tomato-based sauce with spices. Using the pre-made Nosh Spice Mix makes preparation easier, letting you enjoy this popular meal with less work and more taste.

Ingredients

For the Marinade:

  • 1 pound (450g) boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Nosh Spice Tikka Masala Mix
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Skewers (wooden or metal)

For the Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon butter or oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree (or 2 fresh tomatoes)
  • ½ tablespoon ready-to-use Nosh Spice Tikka Masala Mix
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish

Cooking Method

Step 1: Marinade the Chicken

  1. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, Nosh Spice Tikka Masala Mix, ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight is ideal for better results).

Step 2: Prepare the Chicken

  1. Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
  2. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  3. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers.
  4. Grill the chicken skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred. Alternatively, cook them in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, turning once halfway.
  5. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skewers and set aside.

Step 3: Prepare the Masala Sauce

  1. In a pan, heat the butter or oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in the ginger paste and garlic paste, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the tomato puree and Nosh Spice Tikka Masala Mix. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oil starts to separate from the sauce.

Step 4: Finish the Sauce

  1. Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Let the sauce simmer gently for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the grilled chicken pieces to the masala sauce. Simmer for 5-10 minutes to let the flavours meld.
  3. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.

Step 5: Serve

  1. Taste and adjust salt as needed.
  2. Serve Chicken Tikka Masala with steamed rice, naan, or Indian bread of your choice.
  3. Enjoy your flavourful and creamy Chicken Tikka Masala!
